Axon Access

Smart Building Access Control Platform for Doors, Garages & Elevators

AXON Services IoT access control mobile app — Flutter DETAY Lab Kosovo Switzerland

DETAY Tech designed and developed Axon Access, a custom smart building access control platform that centralises the management of doors, garages, elevators, RFID cards, and user permissions within one connected ecosystem. The platform enables granular access control beyond the building entrance, allowing administrators to define exactly where each user can go—including authorised elevator destinations and individual floors.

About the client

Axon Access is a smart access control platform designed for residential and commercial buildings where traditional door access systems are not sufficient to manage movement throughout an entire property.

Conventional access control often ends at the entrance. Once a person enters a building, they may potentially move freely through areas that should remain restricted. In multi-storey buildings, true access management requires a more complete approach—connecting entrances, doors, garages, elevators, floors, apartments, and individual units within the same authorisation system.

The platform was created to solve this challenge through a connected digital ecosystem that models the complete structure of a building and links access permissions directly to specific locations within it.

Whether managing residents, employees, maintenance staff, visitors, or service personnel, Axon Access gives administrators the ability to define granular access rights based on each user’s authorised areas and destinations.

The challenge — controlling access beyond the building entrance

Access control becomes significantly more complex when managing an entire building rather than a single door.

A multi-storey residential or commercial property can contain multiple entrances, restricted areas, garages, elevators, floors, apartments, and technical units. Each person may require different access rights, and those permissions need to work consistently across both physical hardware and the digital management platform.

For Axon Access, the challenge was not simply to create another RFID card management system.

The platform needed to extend authorisation logic throughout the entire building. A user could be authorised to enter a specific entrance but only travel to selected floors through the elevator. Maintenance personnel could require temporary access to technical areas, while residents would have access only to locations relevant to their property.

A second major challenge involved device commissioning and field configuration.

Traditional installation and configuration processes often depend on laptops, specialised software, manual device addressing, and detailed technical knowledge. Configuration errors may remain undetected until access fails in a real-world situation.

The objective was therefore to create a connected software platform capable of simplifying both building access management and on-site device configuration through an intuitive mobile experience.

What DETAY Tech built

DETAY Tech designed and developed a complete smart building access control ecosystem consisting of mobile applications for iOS and Android, a secure server infrastructure, and connected controllers installed throughout the building.

The platform brings together building management, RFID credentials, access permissions, elevator control, device configuration, activity monitoring, and operational reporting within one connected system.

Complete Building Structure Management

Axon Access models a property as a complete digital structure.

Administrators can organise and manage:

  • Buildings
  • Entrances
  • Floors
  • Apartments
  • Commercial and auxiliary units
  • Garages
  • Elevators
  • Connected access devices

This structure creates the foundation for more precise access control. Instead of assigning broad permissions without context, access rights can be connected to specific locations and destinations inside the building.

Granular Access Control

One of the platform’s core capabilities is its ability to extend access control beyond physical doors.

Administrators can define detailed permissions for individual users and RFID cards, determining where each credential is authorised to provide access.

This includes access to building entrances, specific doors, garages, elevators, and authorised floors.

For example, a resident can enter the building and use the elevator only to reach their permitted floor, while maintenance personnel or service providers can receive a completely different set of permissions based on their operational requirements.

This creates a more structured and secure approach to building access management.

Elevator & Floor-Level Authorisation

Traditional access control systems often treat elevators as separate systems. Axon Access brings elevator destinations into the same authorisation logic as the rest of the building.

Each user’s permissions can extend to specific elevator destinations and floors, helping ensure that entering the building does not automatically provide access to every level.

The platform supports configuration for elevator cabins and individual floor destinations, allowing access policies to be managed as part of one unified building security system.

RFID Card Management

The platform includes centralised management of RFID access cards and their assigned holders.

Administrators can manage credentials, connect them to individual users, define access rights, and control validity periods.

This makes it possible to manage permanent, temporary, or time-limited access while maintaining a clear connection between each physical credential and its authorised permissions.

Mobile Field Configuration

DETAY Tech developed a mobile-first configuration workflow that allows technicians to commission and configure access control devices directly on-site.

Instead of relying on additional laptops and complex external tools, technicians can perform essential configuration tasks through the mobile application.

The system provides operational visibility into available and occupied device addresses, network branch capacity, and the physical configuration associated with selected devices.

Configuration changes can then be saved and communicated directly to the relevant hardware.

This significantly simplifies the field workflow and gives technicians a clearer view of the installation process while configuring complex building access infrastructure.

Device Addressing & Hardware Management

Managing multiple controllers, readers, relays, and connected devices requires accurate addressing and configuration.

Axon Access provides a structured environment for managing connected devices and their operational parameters. Technicians can monitor the configuration state of devices and identify how available network capacity and addressing are being used throughout the system.

This helps transform a traditionally technical and fragmented commissioning process into a more visual and controlled digital workflow.

Real-Time Operational Monitoring

For administrators, Axon Access provides visibility into the operational status of the wider access control ecosystem.

The platform can present important system information, including:

  • Access activity and passage volume
  • Refused access attempts
  • Device status
  • Configuration progress
  • Building and entrance readiness

This gives operational teams a clearer understanding of how the system is performing across individual properties.

Configuration Readiness Measurement

One of Axon Access’s distinguishing capabilities is the ability to measure the actual configuration readiness of a property.

Rather than relying only on assumptions that an installation has been completed, the system can provide visibility into how much of the building has been configured and connected.

This can include the configuration status of floors and the activation state of connected devices at building and entrance level.

By turning configuration progress into measurable operational information, administrators and technical teams can identify incomplete areas before they become larger access issues.

Integrated AI Assistant

The platform also includes an integrated assistant with access to relevant system information.

Users can ask operational questions and receive guidance related to the building configuration and platform data. The assistant can also propose configuration changes based on the requested action.

Importantly, proposed changes are not applied automatically. The user remains in control and must review and approve changes before they are implemented.

This creates a more efficient operational experience while preserving human oversight over critical access control configurations.

Multilingual & Operational User Experience

The Axon Access interface was designed for practical day-to-day use by administrators and technical personnel.

Complex system information is presented through a clear and structured interface, helping users understand device states, permissions, configuration progress, and building structure without navigating unnecessarily complicated workflows.

The platform supports both Albanian and English and includes light and dark interface modes, providing flexibility across different users and working environments.

Technology

Axon Access was engineered as a connected access control platform where mobile software, cloud infrastructure, server-side services, and physical building hardware operate as part of one ecosystem.

The solution consists of mobile applications for iOS and Android, a server-side platform with isolated customer data, and controllers installed within each property that manage readers and relay outputs.

The architecture was designed to support:

  • Mobile-first device configuration
  • Secure user and role management
  • Customer-level data isolation
  • Building and property hierarchy management
  • RFID credential management
  • Granular access permissions
  • Elevator and floor-level authorisation
  • Connected controller communication
  • Device addressing and configuration workflows
  • Access event logging
  • Operational reporting and monitoring
  • Scalable multi-property management
  • AI-assisted operational workflows

The platform was built around the reality that smart building software must reliably connect the digital management layer with physical infrastructure operating in real-world environments.

The result

Axon Access transforms building access control from a collection of separate doors and devices into one connected digital system.

Administrators can manage buildings, entrances, floors, units, elevators, RFID cards, users, and permissions through a structured platform designed around the complete movement of people inside a property.

The system extends access control beyond the entrance by connecting authorisation with specific destinations, including elevators and individual floors.

At the same time, DETAY Tech created a mobile configuration experience that gives technical teams the ability to commission and manage devices directly in the field, reducing dependence on traditional configuration workflows and additional equipment.

The result is a scalable smart building access control platform that combines physical security infrastructure with modern mobile software, real-time operational visibility, and granular permission management.

Rather than functioning as a simple door access application, Axon Access provides the foundation for a more intelligent and connected approach to managing movement throughout residential and commercial buildings.
